Photographing fireworks was something new for me and I love it now. It’s great to see the sky filled up with little lights and bright colors that fill up my photos. And the best of all, it doesn’t cost you anything. A friend took me and some others on a wild camping trip. Our first stop was Liège, due to the national holiday of France, quatorze juillet, there were some festivities and bright fireworks in the late evening.
Searching a good composition was not easy and we found one right on time. The shots were taken on a crowded bridge but some lovely people gave me some space to put my camera and tripod. It took 264 pictures in total to get to a couple of good shots.
After that, we went to our wild camping spot. A desolated parking had to do it. the ground was filled with little sticky, maybe rotten plants that stuck to everything, but hey, it was nice and clean after all. You used to have a stunning view on one side of the parking, but there were too many plants plus it was summer so no view for us this time.
On the road then, to Le Barrage de Nisramont. A dam of 166 meters long and 16 meters high. There a nice hike along Le Lac de Nisramont but we didn’t do that one. I did read about it and there seems to be a very nice hike of 15 km.
Back the road then, on to the area of La-Roch-En-Ardennes, we started a couple of times to check out the views and we came along the Europalia monument in Nadrin. The light pink marble construction stands for the openness of Europe. It weights 55 900 kg in total and the twelve columns in front of it stand for the twelve members of the European Union.
When we arrived, we went for a little urban exploring, where we got this great view in a little tower.
Our original plan was to go for a hike in Le Hérou, Le parc naturel des deux ourthes. In the end, it was a great hike with beautiful regular rock formations and stunning views. The temperature was great and the adventure was on.
On our way back to La Roche, we found our next camping spot and a little bit further in the woods, there was our next sleeping place.
After having a great night, we woke up on the parcours of a trial run.
We waited until it was finished and we took the car to go to La Roche, a nice small city. I heard that it was a very nice one and I already wanted to visit it for a long time.
Our initial plan was to visit the little town and take pictures, but when we took a break on the parking, we saw someone with climbing gear disappearing in the woods. Well, that was interesting. We immediately sneaked up and followed the guy into the forest. And booyah, there were ropes, bridges, ladders and other adventurous stuff. So we abruptly changed plans, took our own climbing gear and went back to check it out. Since I don’t trust myself on heights with my camera I didn’t take any picture. Lesson learned; Always keep my gopro with me. But my friend did take pictures, so check those out over here. We spent a whole day at Durbuy, walking around, doing ladders, bridges, checking out the speleo cave, doing a via ferrata and we found out that it was part of the parcours of adventure valley, the biggest adventure parc of Belgium.
Thanks for the great weekend!
