Past weekend, I had to chance to join some friends on an underground weekend abroad. We left on Friday and planned to come back on Sunday. Our hotel: A limestone quarry. I must admit, I’d never done any camping before this although it’s my favorite thing to do. Back to basics and enjoying the freedom. I was all excited for this so three days before leaving I started preparing myself because if I didn’t I knew I was going to forget something. The first thing I did was charging ALL of the batteries I had. You never know and since I didn’t trust new batteries, I needed as many backup batteries as possible.
We left Friday afternoon and arrived in the evening to explore our hotel, a very big quarry, a former mushroom farm. In some parts of the quarry, there are still a huge amount of bags left to grow mushrooms in. It’s really impressing to see.
There’re also some vehicles left.
In the very early morning, we arrived at the room where we spend the rest of the morning to sleep a bit. The second day after realizing that I had a flat tire and fixing it after 7 hours trying to get my tire fixed, we visited another quarry. Carrière Ste. G. was a rather industrial quarry, there were still machines and a lot of vehicles left in there.
There’s also a very big, high, long and large hallway that was the main room in the quarry I guess. There’s a crane in it for transporting the blocks.
After this, we returned to the first quarry to ge† ready for the next day. Sunday was more of an urbexday. We couldn’t really find the quarry we wanted to see so we went to Château M. This was also our last stop for the weekend before returning home.
Thanks for the great weekend guys and girl!
